Indochinese Roller

Indochinese roller lives in Thailand. This is a stocky bird about 27 cm long. It has a purplish-brown face and chest, a blue crown. The primary colors are dark purple with a pale blue. The tail is sky blue and the central feathers are green. The main habitat is thin forest and grassland. They can often be seen located along roadside wires. They feed on insects and small reptiles.
The breeding season is from March to June. A nest is a cavity in a tree. Clutch usually no more than 5 eggs. The eggs are white, oval. Both sexes hatch eggs for 20 days. Chicks leave the nest after about a month.
The call of an Indochinese roller is like the call of a crow. He also makes many other sounds. It is especially vociferous during the breeding season.
The bird bathes in open water and sometimes may try to catch fish from the water.
