This is not a venomous snake. Habitat - open meadows, forests, as well as farmland. It grows up to 230 cm in length. It feeds mainly on rats and mice, but also eats birds, lizards and frogs. It is one of the largest snakes in Thailand. The body is light brown in front and becomes orange-brown in the back. Two black stripes run down the first half of each side of the body. Three black lines radiate from the eye, two sloping downward and one upward, until they touch the black collar at the back of the head. The snake can be aggressive when threatened. The bite can cause redness and slight swelling.
