It is a very common small and non-venomous snake. Reaches a length of up to 65 cm. The snake lives in the forest lowlands, but also in mountainous areas at an altitude of 1500 meters. This snake has a large head. From above it is dark brown, with a typical branched pattern on the top of the head. Light stripes run along the length of the body. The underside is pale, with brown spots. The eye is medium in size with a vertical pupil. Able to imitate and, when threatened, change the shape of the pupils so that they look like a viper.
